Untraceable.R5.XviD-iNQONTROL

Friday, April 25th, 2008

I saw Untraceable. I read a review which is available in the article at www.washingtonpost.com website. I know this is “Hollywood style” so I ask you to treat this post with a pinch of salt. The best and the most funniest parts?

BOX
But why’d he pick Restom, when he had 434 other dishonest, yellowtied douche bags to choose from?

MARSH
Good question.

Box throws her a smile, unused to the compliment.

MARSH (cont’d)
I know because I asked it myself.
(beat)
The Director testified before him once. Restom sits on the House Judiciary Committee. He’s a huge supporter of Net Neutrality. All traffic treated equally. No restriction on content.

BOX.
You’d think the piece of shit would be for that.

MARSH
Yeah, you would.

Was it hidden propaganda against Net Neutrality? Nah, I do not want to act like people searching for some conspiracy theories so I found better part.

Elmer is led into the room by the other Officer. Box sees stacks of DVD’s everywhere, all bearing handwritten labels.

BOX (cont’d)
You like movies, huh?

ELMER
Who doesn’t?

BOX
Me. You burn your own, huh?

Box pops a DVD in a player and hits play.

BOX (cont’d)
That’s illegal.

Elmer smirks. Box hits pause, freezing the FBI WARNING about illegal copying. He throws Elmer a dead-serious glance.

The movie ends with a very important question that was asked during final chat.

Where can I download this movie?

My simple answer is www.thepiratebay.org and the trailer is available for free and without the risk of being prosecuted. :)

Super Bowl XLII

Friday, February 1st, 2008

The big show will be performed soon so I decided to inform you about www.sportslogos.net website. A year ago I published a post titled SuperBowl XLI ads. I wonder how will it look this time.

Update on February 6, 2008.

Sadly to say this ad will not be under the review of Polish Advertising Board.

ELAVE

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

The www.elave.co.uk website with a movie titled “Nothing to hide” came to public attention in 2007. I have found it today.

Nudity has been used as a device within the ads to highlight the elave product range’s comprehensive ‘free from’ chemical list and the fact that the elave brand lists its ingredients openly on its packaging.

A riddle

Friday, December 14th, 2007

Both copyrighted works are really good right? So here comes Toho Co., LTD v. Priority Records, LLC, 2002 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 14093 (D. Cal. 2002). Guess the title of my next article? =)

The right of citation

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

This post is not original and even not professional one because it lacks a proper legal commentary but I just wanted to cite the Act on authors right and neighbouring rights of 4 February 1994 (Dziennik Ustaw No 24, pos. 83), consolidated text of 16 May 2006 (Dziennik Ustaw No 90, pos. 631), with later changes.

Art. 29. 1.
It shall be permissible to reproduce in the form of quotations, in works that constitute an integral whole, fragments of disclosed works or the entire contents of short works to the extent justified by explanation, critical analysis or teaching or by the laws of the creative genre concerned.

As you could probably already guessed it concerns my post titled Author’s monopoly on ideas and a really short movie fragment which illustrated it.

The Italian Bob, the eighth episode of The Simpsons, seventeenth season.

Problems with viral ads

Monday, November 26th, 2007

Did I foretell evil or legal problems in my earlier post?

About This Video: http://lingerie-uk.blogspot.com discovered this evening that one of the most successful viral advert campaigns ever to run in the UK has ran right off the rails.

Whilst visitors to the Wonderbra UK website are still greeted by the self congratulatory message about how the ad is an internet sensation, when they click the invitation to ‘watch it here’ they land on You Tube with with the disappointing red text ‘This video has been removed by the user’.

It raises some interesting issues, we don’t yet know why Wonderbra have taken it down but if it was for copyright infringement what happens next? It is the nature of a viral advertisement campaign, which releases material on the internet to be propagated via social networks and video hosts, that once it is out there it is out there! Already there are eighteen other copies of it on You Tube alone, not to mention copies now emerging on other video hosting services.

If they are going to remove this video one after another I got my local copy. If someone of you is interested about it then let me know.

Cadbury logo versus Wonderbra

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

Those advertising movies presented below although they apply to trademarks they are also a great example that ideas should not be copyright protected or proprietarized in any way. Cadbury’s ad was first. A propos - I think those are delicious sweets. And it is not a hidden marketing or advertising here. It’s just a small opinion of an excessive consument.

Then came the Wonderbra’s ad. I even like those ads, errr I mean this ad, this AD!

And here is a very interesting example of “comparative advertising”. Enjoy.

Big Hunger

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Would you like to know why am I into IP law issues? The answer is really brief and short. Because I will not have the opportunity to meet with so much creativity and originality in other fields of law. I have always a chance to talk with very interesting clients and sometimes there is also a lot of great humor involved. The movie clip I present below only strengthen me in this feeling.

As a bonus and for your comparision here is also a clip with original Danio’s advertising.

Make My Logo Bigger

Monday, November 12th, 2007

Perfect! Just check www.makemylogobiggercream.com website. Do we need designers or media house? ;) There were similiar actions before. I recommend you to read a post available at www.underconsideration.com website. There is also a movie clip with this song.

Make The Logo Bigger song in MP3 format and lyrics.

Make the logo big.
Make the logo bigger.
Make the logo big.
Make the logo bigger.

Chorus
Make the logo as big as you can.
And make the logo bigger.

That logo isn’t big enough.
So, make the logo bigger.
Bigger, bigger, make it big.
Make the logo bigger.

Chorus
Make the logo as big as you can.
And make the logo bigger. . .

The Boondocks

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

On October 15, 2007, Google has unveiled new technology to monitor content uploaded to YouTube. I skiped all adjectives describing this tool with premeditation. Many details about this undertaking are explained in the article available at www.news.com website. While not even trying to comment about the fact that technology decides what content and actions are legal and which are not (yes, we do not need judges and courts) I was waiting for the answer from the content industry. It did not take too long. Philippe Dauman’s comments (Viacom’s CEO) are available in the article at www.pcworld.com website.

As an ambiguous illustration for this post I would like you to watch The Boondocks. To be precise I meant the episode titled “…Or Die Trying”, which is still available at YouTube.

I would like to remind you that Google and YouTube were sued by Viacom. See: Viacom v. Youtube, 2007 U.S. Dist. Ct. Pleadings 2103 (U.S. Dist. Ct. Pleadings 2007).

Internet voting

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

I owe a short explanation to all my readers who do not understand Polish language. My friend Piotr Waglowski who operates a great website www.vagla.pl did an experiment and set a very important survey in which he asked if Polish internauts want the government to establish an embassy or consulate on Mars. I am not kidding! It was a response to a statement issued by the Fundation of Karzimierz Puławski about voting over the Internet. It simply showed how reliable surveys are. I honestly admit that I support voting over the Internets because I already know that it is safe and secure and I trust everybody. I voted 10 times in Piotr’s survey so I guess it counts. You also should click to ballot box!
Ok, jokes are over. See “The Statement of Internet Society Poland concerning e-voting in general elections” which is available at www.isoc.org.pl website. It is a very important document to read.
